]]> http://maxonshow.com/2009/04/10/michael-olson/feed/ 0 Ginny Mason, RN BSN http://maxonshow.com/2009/01/19/ginny-mason-rn-bsn/ http://maxonshow.com/2009/01/19/ginny-mason-rn-bsn/#comments Mon, 19 Jan 2009 11:00:17 +0000 susan http://themaxonshow.com/?p=694 Working with the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation has allowed Ginny to use her medical education and experience as a patient, to further the organization’s mission and goals.  As a long-term survivor of IBC, she can provide hope and encouragement to those newly diagnosed.  As the organization has evolved, Ginny’s role has expanded to include increased contact with researchers and others in the cancer community.  She believes in the power of patient advocacy and is excited about the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation BioBank and Clinical Data Base project.  In this age of personalized medicine it is essential that patients bank their archival tissue and medical records for research purposes.  As the co-investigator of the BioBank project, Ginny helps manage patient enrollment as well as maintaining contact with patients, researchers and the Medical Advisory Board.  The Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation BioBank and Clinical Data Base places advocates in a new role as partners in research.  

 

Ginny lives with her husband in Alabama and works from a home office.  They have one daughter (also a breast cancer survivor), four granddaughters and have lost two grandchildren to a rare heart arrhythmia.
